Belmont, Mass. —
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) announced late Thursday afternoon that West Nile virus (WNV) has been detected in mosquitoes recently collected from the Cities of Cambridge and Newton. Due to multiple WNV positive mosquitoes and based on similarities in mosquito habitat types, Newton, Cambridge, Watertown, and Waltham are being moved to moderate risk for WNV.
