Vectoring movies
11 June 2008 19:35Last night I was really in the mood to hang out with folk, and I managed to scrounge up a dinner-n-movie mob, or have my movie mob absorbed into a larger dinner mob and then splinter off again. After some yummy food at redbones, we went around the corner to the local video store, and found out that it was 2-for-1 night. So my carefully laid plans of "I wanna watch a violent action flick" got morphed. And I did manage to push through my vote for Lucky Number Slevin, shockingly because I was the only one to have ever seen it.
Then we poked around for a while, rummaging for something that appealed to everyone, kinda-sorta. Can't even recall what we carried up - some anime I think? Then while standing in line I flipped through a set of mini- movie posters and stopped on Donnie Darko, held it up, and said yeah, "Wasn't this a cool film?" *crickets*
Ok, one other person had seen it, they were also just so taken aback by the non-response that they didn't speak at first. Of course the result was returning the anime and getting Darko as the 2nd flick. I will say I'm still shocked, shocked do you hear, that there were people I knew who hadn't seen it.
Overall a very good evening. Not only did I get to see what I wanted, but I vectored two good movies out to people. It's good to find little things to feel good about.
